Oppfinnarn.com is a blog about creativity, inventions and patent creation from my, a prolific inventor’s, perspective. I also intend to deal with the value of inventors and patent creation for both industries and society.
There are lots of information on Internet about patents and the value of patents for industry and society. However, I have found almost nothing about how to become a successful inventor and the thought process that leads up to inventions and patents. I don’t claim to have an answer that works for everybody, but in this blog I will reveal some of my secrets about how I became a prolific inventor.
Bengt Lindoff is an independent researcher and inventor with around 20 years experience from research in the Wireless Communication Industry, mainly at Ericsson Research, Sweden. Currently, Bengt is independent contractor as Senior Principal Researcher at Huawei Technologies, Sweden.
During this time I have been doing reserach within radio interface design, transciever architecture and algorithms, IoT/cloud projects as well as standard specific aspects of GSM, EDGE, WCDMA, HSPA, LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, NB-IoT, and currently 5G-NR.
With more than 460 filed patent applications and 1500+ granted patents worldwide within the area of wireless communication, I am one of the most prolific inventors in the world. You probably can’t see my inventions and patents, but I can say that, most likely, there are some of them in your smartphone. Throughout my career as inventor I have also learned about what comprise an invention and the underlying thought process about, firstly, how to come up with inventions and, secondly, how to make them into patents.
Inventing and patent creation is my passion and area of expertise. If you or your organization are interested in learning more about this area, I offer seminars and workshops about the innovation process and my own trade secrets on how to invent, create patents and become a prolific inventor.
Finally, for non-Swedish readers, the name “Oppfinnarn” is a nick-name of the Swedish word for “The Inventor” (Uppfinnaren),.

A standard-essential patent (SEP) is a patent which claims an invention that must be used to comply with a technical standard, such as the 4G or the forthcoming 5G cellular communication standard. As I have mentioned in an earlier blog post a company claiming to have a SEP has to agree to license the patent …
Maybe you have heard the quote “Everything has already been invented”? This quote was, according to the legend, stated by Charles H. Duell who was the Commissioner of the US patent office in 1899. However, there is a belief that he didn’t say so, but it may be a similar quote stated already 1843 by …
